This is a volunteer role.
Your Role
Have you played the board game ‘Articulate’? Do you clean your car interior more than once a year? Are you organised and can you work well with other people in the best interests of an organisation?
The team of board members who represent our local Rau Ora Hospice Eastern Bay of Plenty are looking for another board member to help effectively manage the finances and investments of Hospice EBOP, review the Strategic Plan, and fulfill our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
There are many issues facing our health sector in New Zealand – these all impact on our ability to provide palliative care to for those in our community that need it. We’re underfunded, under resourced and we need someone who is passionate about the Health and Palliative care sectors and can join forces with our existing board members.

We do require a bit of experience to join the Board of Trustees at Hospice EBOP. Experience in governance or social sector management, strategic planning, financial planning and management, quality and risk assurance experience, executive performance, community involvement and/or networking connections, delivering on government contracts, legal experience, a background in the health sector, Tikanga Māori or knowledge of Te Ao Māori and retail or business experience.
We would also require you to be a good communicator. Aside from forming an olympic level ‘Articulate’ team, we’d expect a high level of communication to work through complex and difficult conversations with a high level of integrity and professionalism. You may also be called upon to join a Hospice quiz team every year at the Hospice EBOP charity quiz night, so there is some light studying expected as well.
