We had three Christmas Raffles this year, in Ōpōtiki, Kawerau and Whakatāne, all drawn late last week. The last of our Christmas Raffles were drawn in Whakatāne and raised $425 for this year's Christmas Raffle! In fact it was a mere $1 less than the amount our neighbours raised in Ōpōtiki, which was drawn an hour earlier. Kawerau was the first to be drawn the day before and raised $157, making a total of $1008 which is an incredible about of money to go towards a syringe driver.
We really need syringe drivers - and they're not cheap - coming in at just over $3,000. This money will help towards buying another one. Why do we need syringe drivers? These are powerful little battery-powered pumps that deliver medication from a syringe at a constant rate throughout the day and night. The medicine it administers can be pain medication or anti-nausea medication or something just as important to the patient's wellbeing and comfort.
We're so grateful for the help that our community gives us, whether it's shopping at any of our Hospice Shops, or simply by donating to Hospice EBOP. It all helps so much!
Thank you to our wonderful Eastern Bay of Plenty Community! And congratulations to all of our Raffle winners! We're stoked that we got to be a part of making your Christmas a little bit more exciting this year!
