What is a Hospice Shop?

Our Hospice shops are a vehicle for raising funds within our community, by selling the quality goods that have been kindly donated to the shops. All profits from our Hospice shops are used to help fund our palliative care service, which Hospice EBOP provides free of charge.

(Our palliative care service is partially funded by BOPDHB).

There are approx. 125 Hospice shops throughout New Zealand, each Hospice shop is managed and run by its local hospice service.

Hospice EBOP has 3 Hospice shops. Located in Whakatane, Kawerau and Opotiki. The Hospice shops are staffed mostly by volunteers who generously donate their time working in the shops. There are shop managers employed to oversee the day to day running of the shops.

Because of the generous donations from withing our Eastern Bay of Plenty community, we are able to stock our shops with preloved clothing and shoes, including designer brands, furniture, both modern and vintage, books, bric-a-brac, crockery, sporting goods and electrical items (which are all tested for safety before being sold).

Hospice EBOP has a delivery and collection van available to pick up furniture donations for our shops (free of charge) and deliver furniture purchased in any of our shops to your home, for a small fee.

If you are interested in volunteering at any of our Hospice shops or with our delivery van driver, we would love to hear from you. Call 07 307 2301 for more details.
